Honorary Patronage
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management was established in 1989, during the period of political transformation, as the first public institution of this type in the world. While maintaining its unique character on a global scale, the National Fund has been playing an important role in the implementation of the state's ecological policy for almost 35 years. Thanks to stable revenues, competent and experienced staff and developed forms of cooperation with beneficiaries, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management is the main link in the Polish system of financing environmental protection and water management, having the greatest financial potential in this area.
With the participation of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, various pro-ecological investments are implemented, especially the largest, most important, also the most innovative ones, often of strategic importance for the country. Consistently supporting Poland's eco-development, the National Fund offers loans, subsidies and other forms of co-financing for projects implemented, among others: by local governments, enterprises, public entities, educational and research institutions, and social organizations. In the public finance sector, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management is also the largest partner of international financial institutions in Poland in handling foreign funds, especially EU funds, intended for ecology.
